About Us
The main focus of our group is to raise self esteem and confidence through practical and fun activities; from Computing to Arts and Crafts!
Many people who have suffered from stroke or disability can feel very isolated, depressed and incapable of the things they used to enjoy doing. By taking part in a group and sharing our experiences, we have gained a more positive outlook on life and more confidence in ourselves. We are here to Help.
One of the most valuable things that the group provides is a real social life.

Can we help you?
If you feel lonely or just need to get out, why not drop in and see us for the morning?
We'll even make you a cup of tea!
Our Campaign
Our funding from the lottery ran out at the end of September 2007. We wanted to make sure that our group continued after this date and enlisted the help of local organisations such as CAVO to try and secure further funding. We have been in touch with local MP Mark Williams and AM Elin Jones, who have both pledged their support.
Jackie Quinn, a Sister at Leri Day Ward at Bronglais Hospital, has agreed to be a patron of our organisation. We have had support from local newspapers, such as the Cambrian News who have publicised our campaign and raised awareness for us in the area.

Latest News
**We will be continuing after January 2008 when funding from the Lottery runs out!**
We received news at the beginning of September that we had been able to secure an extension from the Lottery Funding until January 2008, but there were still concerns over our future and whether or not we would be able to afford to keep going once the funding stopped.
A very generous, anonymous donation was made to the group of £1500; our warmest thanks to that kind hearted individual.
Whilst this is wonderful news for us, we need to keep on campaigning so that we can continue to help eachother and provide a support network for Stroke sufferers.
Unfortunately, although we are able to support ourselves, we will be loosing our Co-ordinator, Glenys Richards-Jones at the end of January. We are sorry to see her go, and wish her well in the future.
Today the 30th January 2008 is the official day that we stand on our own as "The Progressive Action Group, Penparcau" it's sad that as we are going foward the other group in Narbeth has had to fold, we hope that this will only be a temporary glich. As I have said before we have lost Glenys Richards-Jones and I can tell you there was one or two wet eyes about, from all of us, Thanks alot Glenys.
To our friends in Narbeth we extend the invitation that if you are ever in Aberystwyth on a wednesday morning, then drop in and see us.
Hoping to publish a list of dates and events shortly, so keep watching this space.

Going Global
Here's part of an E-mail from one of Freds friends in Australia,
Fred.Great to hear from you again, I hope all is well with you and the family. I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing your story on the King George.V. I saw her several times at Banbury and did a few trips to Paddington on the Kings ,its something to look back on with pleasure and pride. I recall, That when Gordon French opend up the throttle on the gradients ,you knew you were going to shift some coal, and shed some sweat. But never did a cup of tea taste better than one on Paddington platform. I dont know if , it was morning light on my computor screen, or my powers of concentration are good but I studied the tender for some time on the photo when I got your E,mail and wondered, what am I missing. To night I had another look and Lo and Behold, there on the engine, note engine ,was a vision of my old mate Fred. How he did it I will never know. Thanks for bringing back some very pleasant memories
It's nice to hear from friends old and new, keep in touch
