Days Out
I thought I would put this article under our days out heading as this is what it could be.
This Lady is responsible for the lovely mosaic Sites we have around the sea front, also at the Day Centre and the Hospital and now she needs your help.
My name is Pod Clare, I am a community artist, and also Chairperson of
the Haul Arts in Health group, based in Bronglais. I have been asked by
the hospital to paint a mural on the hoarding that surrounds the new A&E
department they are biulding, they held an art competition for children
called What I Love About Ceredigion, and the design for the mural is
based on these drawings. The actual painting on the wall will be done by
adults, and the hospital would like to treat this as an arts in health
project, and invite people with various health conditions to come along
to help paint it. I will be there to support anyone who comes, and all
materials are provided. Do you know anyone who would like to get
involved? I will be starting on the painting from 10th Nov., whenever
the weather is nice enough, so we would need to communicate closely
and probably only finalise very close to the actual day. Also I can
only have 5 people with me at any one time, so if there are more than
that wanting to come on any one morning or afternoon, we would have to
arrange for them to come in shifts. Obviously the work is outdoors and
involves standing and painting, so I guess it is only suitable for
people who can cope with that, but they could come for as long or short
as they wanted, with carers or family members if they want, and the
hosp. restaurant is just round the corner if people get tired. The mural
will be in place for at least a year and be seen by a great many people,
and Im sure we will have great fun painting it. If its easier, give my
details to people so they can contact me direct, my phone number is
01545 570005, e mail pod.clare@freeuk.com, and if you would like to see
the kind of work I do, visit my website www.pod.clare.com, best wishes Pod.
We regularly organise trips to various locations, for more information I suggest that you
get in touch with us to find out where we are off to next!

This time we went into the Summers Room and then through to the latest extension, alot of interesting questions where put to Mr Evans who gave us some wonderful details. After the tour it was down to the Pendinas Restaurant for dinner. We would like to thank Mr Evans and also the Porter who came round looking after some of our more disabled members for thier kindness. We would also like to point out that there are good accesses for the disabled and wonderful staff to help, below are a few of our members, sorry if you are not on there, but it was raining and my shinny head was getting very wet,

Group Activities
The Making of our Banner
Last week 23 April 2008 we decided it would be nice to have our own Banner, made by our members, How should we go about this? Well why not get every member to come up with some sought of design, pick the best pieces, throw them into a pot and see what comes out. So over the next few weeks we will see if our democracy has worked.
Week 1
There we are, that's the end of week 1 and it looks as if someone prefers drinking tea rather than painting| Our thanks to the volunteers from University of Wales, Aberystwyth who come and help us, Sharron, Naomi and Anne thank you very much.
Here we are again, June 4th and it's our second go at making our Banner.
from top left we have the layout, then Martine is putting the
paint on the screen, next pressing the paint through the screen, then our first look, Barry
thinks it's ok so that's good enough for us. Fred has the important job of drying the paint,
after he did his hair! There we are the last picture with Fred and Martine holding up the partially completed Banner. All that remains now is to add some Fish a Dolphin and our Web Address.
June 11th 2008
There we are, that's our Banner. There's the Welsh Dragon rushing up Pen Dinas with the Monument on top, the blue of Cardigan Bay below with the Dolphins swimming about. This gives a pretty good picture of where we are, and then of course our Barry with his Bugle advertising our News letter, " the Pendinas Bugle", we hope you all like it.
June 18th 2008
On the left we are making use of our Banner for the first time, this was for the presentation of a cheque for £1600 from
'Awards for All Wales' this will go towards buying equipment for the group. On the right can be seen our Patron, Sister Jackie Quinn from the rehabilitation ward in Bronglais Hospital, also in the photo are Nancy and Dai.
